J. Holiday, who we last heard from in 2007 with the smash hits “Bed” and “Suffocate”, is now returning to the scene with his latest effort Guilty Conscience. This album which may be better than the first shows both his maturity and growth.
Undoubtedly, Guilty Conscience is pure genius. Holiday’s most recent effort displays his clarity in the studio and his distinct form of melodies. The album’s first single “Incredible”, shows his witty way with women and his way with words and compliments are sure to send the female listener ablaze, and there I say, may make the panties quite wet.
The album starts off with lust and seduction, showcasing some of the albums best songs such as, After We F***, which dwells into the nasty side of things and “Cloud 9″, which shows his great battle with temptation.
That point on the album drifts to passion and finally ends with sorrow. Tracks like “Heaven”, “Ms. Get Around”, and “Where Are You Now”, are some of the cuts best lyrical content.
Guilty Conscience reminds the ear of a great mash between John Legend, Tank, R.Kelly, and there I say it Musiq Soulchild all in one.
The tracks definitely show Mr. Holiday’s growth in musical content and are sure to mark him as an R&B act to look out for in 2014. It’s surely a great start and a great look for J. Holidays new revamp in the music industry.
With the album the listeners get so much more depth and can fall in the lines of Trust, pain, sorrow, lust, love, sex, and passion. All in all I would give the album 4.5 out of 5 stars, job well done J. Holiday.
