PostHeaderIcon Lil Wayne On ‘Unplugged’ “It Was Humbling…A High Honor”

June 12th can’t get hear soon enough. Neither can the release date (June 21st) of The Carter IV. But June 12th is the day that MTV will air Lil Wayne’s ‘Unplugged’ set. The Los Angeles Times was on hand to get as Wayne rocked out to some his classic joints as well giving a taste of some songs off the new album.

Lil Wayne is very humbled about his ‘Unplugged’ show with MTV.

“It was humbling just to be a part of. As an artist that’s watched the game as closely as I did, to be on ‘Unplugged’ is a high honor,” Wayne said. “I’ve gotten people that haven’t texted me in a long time, text me today saying congratulations. It is that kind of thing. I felt great about it.”

Lil Wayne is one of rap’s most electric figures, but the Young Money star is ready to unplug. As fans gear up for the release of Weezy’s long-awaited ninth studio album Tha Carter IV, the New Orleans lyricist will appear on “MTV2 Presents: Lil Wayne Unplugged.”

The program, which is set to premiere across MTV2, MTV and MTV.com on Sunday, June 12 at 9 PM ET/PT, will feature Tunechi performing acoustic versions of select hits from his classic catalog.
